Casting Towards Hope, Meaning, and Healing…

“Societies in decline have no use for visionaries.”

~ Anais Nin

I thought I’d share a sneak peek at a few illustrations that will be adorning my newest book, A Season in Patagonia - An Angler and Naturalist’s Journey to a New World.

As with each of my book thus far, I have had the honor and the pleasure of including illustrations that were created exclusively for these books by my dear friend and soul brother - Bob White.

I love all of them, but I will admit, the most meaningful for me is that of the compass and the map.

If Lyons Press remains interested and I remain alive – I see this as a potential international trilogy that will follow the quadrilogy that is the Lyons Press “Casting Series.”

In my mind’s eye, a variation of this compass and map will open and close the pages of each book in this potential series – the map changing as we travel in new directions – seeking the answers to life’s most pressing questions. (Notice that this one is on THE GULF of MEXICO).

These are books of Discovery without exploitation.

Of Wisdom and Healthful Cooperative Action that recognizes but rejects our lesser angels.

I am a Marine Warrior – Poet who has chosen a path of being a Warrior for Peace and the Preservation of our Beautiful Living Planet.

There is a lot of fly fishing and outdoor adventure in all of my books – but that is not what they are really about.

Writer Anais Nin once wrote:

“What we call our destiny is truly our character and that character can be altered. The knowledge that we are responsible for our actions and attitudes does not need to be discouraging, because it also means that we are free to change this destiny. One is not in bondage to the past, which has shaped our feelings, to race, inheritance, background. All this can be altered if we have the courage to examine how it formed us. We can alter the chemistry provided we have the courage to dissect the elements.”

Yes… I say Yes.

We are taking part in the final examination that will decided if humanity deserves to exist. I believe we are failing that test, but all is not lost.

There’s still a little bit of time remaining on the clock.

I for one refuse to give up hope and I refuse to give up being a source of hope.

And I hope you will chose to help me to get these stories in front of the eyes and minds of as many good people as possible.

Writers need Readers.

And I write for you.
