Just Sharing…
It’s almost too late to “Save the Amazon” or life as we’ve known it… but it’s not too late.
One of the things people may or may not know about me as a writer is that I do an enormous amount of research into the human history, natural history, ecological history, current climate, conditions, and culture and the challenges and opportunities for salvation of every place I visit. I try to understand the landscape and waters and wildlife through the eyes of the people who live there and the lens’s of past, present, and potential futures.
I recently completed reading “Lost City of Z” and re-reading “The River of Doubt” and now I am reading “Open Veins of Latin America” by Eduardo Gallano. This book was recommended to me by my friend Rodrigo Salles who in my opinion has done so much to protect the Amazon ecosystem and its indigenous communities.

Like most of you, I have read of and heard news reports about the destruction of the Amazon rainforest but let me tell you… once you see it for yourself from the air… on the ground… and along its rivers… you will be horrified. If you’re not… I would contend that you may be lacking a soul.

I am just one beat up former Marine Corps warrior who fights for Peace and Compassion and to have a world that is Healthy and Intact. There is little that I have to offer but I can use my words of passionate love for this planet and quasi-prophetic vision of the world we could have.. and must have if we are to earn any right to exist as a species in the not-to- distant future.

Between my heart and my lungs and my broken body I probably won’t be here for the worst of what’s coming if we don’t change direction… but our children will be. They deserve better.
