Bob took the photo while I was going about my business of tying a mediocre knot while attaching a lovely wet fly to my line and pondering my good fortune.

Each day for the remainder of my current mortal lifetime I will look at this beautiful piece of art and reflect on this dear friendship as part of my morning ritual to begin another new day of life and living. Every day of Life and Living is a Gift.

And each day, I will be invited by this work of art to reminisce of our times together in Argentina, Alaska, and Minnesota.

I will remember how Bob made fly fishing seem so naturally easy and how I did not.

And I will smile at how he’d tell the story of the big beautiful fish that I caught while leaving out the bushes and trees that caught me.

Whenever this upside down human world tugs at my broken heart and draws raindrops from the corners of my aging eyes… I think of my dear friends and all the people I truly love.

I think of moments and memories along the rivers and seas of this magnificent living planet.

And I feel for of gratitude, hope, and joy.

Bob and Lisa White are such blessings in my life. And I am grateful.

Let’s count our many blessings Y’all.

Let go of everything else.
